The Montego Bay Cultural Centre Ignites the City with a Fiery Poetry Series
Montego Bay, St. James April 5, 2019 – The platform has been set for the revival of the spoken word in a series of manuscript readings and artistic expression to be held at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre. Western Jamaica’s Poetic vanguard, namely Soul and Melanin, Rastau, Messiah and Yannik will kick start the fiery series on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 4pm.
The Poetry Series will be held once per month at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre’s Town Hall and will focus on different emerging poets each month. In addition, the participants will also benefit from a “mini trunk show” where they will showcase their crafts, skills and products.
The event charges a contribution of $1000 for Adults, $300 for Children and entails the presentations and a tour of the existing Museum, Freedom Monument and Art Gallery housed at the Centre in Sam Sharpe Square.
The Montego Bay Cultural Centre is a creative space and has a mandate of facilitating and highlighting various art forms and so lends its support by promoting Jamaican poets through this series.
