The building which houses the Montego Bay Cultural Centre has been standing since the 1800s, where it once stood as a Court House, instrumental in trying the cases of those who participated in the Emancipation wars of 1831-1832. Since then the Centre has functioned as many other purposes. Today it houses the National Museum West and the National Gallery West which are the Western branches of the National Institutions.
The Georgian Grandeur still remains and the multipurpose facility provides an event rental space – the grand Colonial Town Hall which seats up to 300 persons comfortably in a fully air-conditioned theatre style arrangement.
It is the ideal rental venue in Montego Bay as it is centrally located in the center of the Town Space. The Brazilian Hardwood Floors, High Ceilings, Mounted paintings and ambient lighting provides a practical space for Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Balls & Banquets, cocktails and weddings. The Grand Town Hall is a creatives dream as there is so much that can be done to totally transform the space.
