National Museum Jamaica is located at 10 East Street, Kingston and houses the Administrative offices, including: the Director’s Office, Collections, Research and Education Departments. Through its work, National Museum Jamaica seeks to create communities of learners and historians, aware of their own past. We contextualize history using objects from the past as primary sources of interrogation.
Through our work, particularly the outreach programmes and exhibitions, we seek to empower the public with self-awareness and a strong sense of identity and national pride. We also seek to educate visitors about the importance of conservation and preservation of the historic environment.
National Museum Jamaica manages four museums and exhibition spaces, including:-
Fort Charles Museum in Port Royal, The People’s Museum of Craft and Technology in Spanish Town, National Museum West in Montego Bay and our headquarters on East Street, in Downtown Kingston.
